About iComic files

An .icomic file is a provisional ZIP format with a comic.json file inside. Draft 0.3.1 adds ordered local media variants so a compact modern encode can keep a practical fallback. Prose imports use safe plain .txt or limited Markdown .md/.markdown files.

Pages and revealsA page can show panels one by one or all at once.
Efficient artworkStatic AVIF and WebP are first-class delivery formats, with JPEG and PNG kept readable.
Sound and motionOpus, AAC-LC/M4A, FLAC, AV1 video, and compatibility media can be selected locally by the Reader.
DepthMove panels a little with the pointer or device tilt.

WavPack and H.266/VVC make more sense as high-quality authoring inputs for the future encoder than as browser delivery formats. The packer will transcode them into Reader-ready derivatives rather than putting decoder weight into every book.

The public notes describe the format, not the Reader source: the Reader implementation is closed. For a bespoke version for your site, email [email protected]. If you receive a bespoke source copy, you may host, adapt, or otherwise use it as you wish.
